About me - Difficulty in remembering names

I was asked to write something about myself, so, here is a little bit about me..........

***

Today, on the way back from clinic, I bumped into a course mate, a young lady. I greeted her with a smile which, I guess, was hardly to be seen by her bare eyes. As usual, I didn't have the intention to stop and speak to her. Upon walking pass her, she called my name.

Okay, I had to talk to her since she called me. I'm not without manner.

We had a short conversation.

Then, I was thinking, 'What's her name?' Poor thing, she didn't realized that she was talking to someone who didn't even know her name.

Well, I do have difficulty in remembering names. However, I don't view it as a problem. It's an absolute truth that you are able to impress people by addressing them by their names. It's like honey flowing through your ears when someone calls you by name. I agree. It's a skill.

But it's a neglected skill, at least, for me.

I manage to bust my ass into 4th year in medical school by memorizing tons of fact, surely, memory is not the issue. Instead, I neglect the skill. I don't show commitment in remembering the names and it is very much due to my lack of application.

I don't see the need for me to adapt the skill as I'm not a sociable person. I only wish to remember the names of those who are related to me: my friends, group members, house mates......and someone I don't like (for me to curse). Sooner or later, I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna forget most of the names, as most of them are just gonna be passers-by in my life.

A little bit about me, that's me.

I like this movie

Everyone is talking about batman after the releasing of 'The Dark Knight'. Never really like batman until I caught the show yesterday evening.

It was GOOD!

It gave me the 'orgasmic' feeling right from beginning until I forgot my urge to micturate. I was holding my pee unconsciously for more than one hour. I would say it's the best Batman movie ever... much better than the Clooney version.

Heath Ledger needs to be mentioned. I came to know him from the movie '10 things I hate about you' and I particularly remember that he told Julia Stiles:

" You complete me."

Ironically, for his very last movie, he told Batman the same thing:

"You complete me."

By the way, I think Bruce Wayne gets a really horrible sore throat everytime he turns into batman as he needs to speak in that raspy growl. =D

Rating: 9/10

Great savings plan !

When everyone is struggling to save their extra bit of money....

When Pak Lah said "Ubah Gaya Hidup!" (change the lifestyle) .....

Terengganu state government came out with a super smart savings plan:

By changing their 4 years old Proton Perdana V6 to Mercedes E200 Kompressor for the use of its state executive councillors and senior officials with the price of RM3.43mil for 14 cars.

The reasonS given by their Menteri Besar:

"In the long run, Mercedes cars are cheaper (than Malaysian national cars, Proton Perdana) to maintain and could also save us fuel costs."

"The state government had to spent Rm175,229.97 for the maintenance cost of ONE Proton Perdana and RM132,375.76 for another from 2004 to July 2008 due to frequent break down."

(for your information, a brand new perdana costs ONLY RM101,500)

Kick Ass! What a Genius savings plan by Terengganu! Forget about the fuel hike, forget about Proton/Perodua, let's drive Mercedes to SAVE!

Undilah BN.

Why do you want to become a doctor?

"Why do you want to be a doctor?"

This is the most frequently asked question when we were the junior medical students.

"I want to help others."

This is the most common answer given by us. Gold standard answer.
But most of the time, most of us are bullshitting.

"I want to help the poor, they deserve better treatment."

Sounds familiar? It is a standard answer from medical students. A good way to help the poor is to remain in the government service as they simply cannot afford to go to the money-sucking private hospitals. Unfortunately, when they are asked about the reason to reject JPA scholarship......

" Ishhh (walaoeh), need to bond to the government for 10 years, so long, dont want lah. Wanna be free."

or, when they are asked whether to remain in the government service......

"Government? Cannot stand the workload lah, so many on-calls some more, I want to sleep lah, wanna cabut to private after the compulsory service."

or, when ask to go to the ulu-ulu(rural) area to help the poor.............

"Ha?? NO cinema, NO McD, NO Shopping malls, NO entertainment, can bored to death, u know....dont want lah!"

Another standard answer given by medical student is:

"My family member had cancer and I couldn't do anything at that time, so, I want to be a doctor so that I can prevent this. "

Does this sound familiar to you? If that is your answer and yet you are so obsessed with clinical practice and show very little interest towards medical research, you are going to the wrong direction. When facing some terminal or serious diseases, it depends on the researchers who work behind the scene to develop the new treatments. Doctors? They only prolong the patient's life, and the result is still the same, death.

Another answer:

"It's my ambition since I was a kid."

Come on, how on earth can you decide that when you are still very much dependent on your parents for most of the decision. Obviously, you get the idea from the sample essay in which you need to memorize when you were in primary school. "Apakah cita-cita kamu?" "Cita-cita saya adalah menjadi seorang doktor yang berjaya." Get it?

Another answer....

"Parents force me to study medicine."

Your parents might force you, yet, you still come to the medical school with happy face and very motivated, kiasu some more. Yea, when there is no good answer, just blame the parents lah, very easy answer.

..................................................................................................................................................................

Okay, why is it so hard to tell the truth?

" I want to be rich!"

" I want the title, DR. , glamour lah!"

"Doctor has higher status, people respect me!"

"Doctor syok, easy to tackle pretty chicks!"

Some doctors told us that becoming a doctor is not the way to be rich. After office hour, they were spotted sitting comfortably in BMW, Mercedes... (--III)
Yea, of course not rich lah, they are comparing themselves to Robert Kuok.

Some of you might say, "I can still help others by working in private hospital ma." Yea right, they pay a huge amount for your service, basically, you are just selling your skill to them. They pay for what they deserve but not at the mercy of your kindness. Some more, they can sue you if you don't give a good service. Have you ever heard that a kind Samaritan get sued because he/she is not giving a 'good enough' help?
"I sincerely want to help you, yet you sue me because my help is lousy? walaoeh!"

I don't doubt that, indeed, there are some students who really have the heart to help others and also to improve the medical services in our country, good for them and I salute them. But, how many of us are actually one of them? Are you?

Well, after almost 4 years in medical school, try to ask yourself the same old question again,

"Why do you want to become a doctor?"

3D movie

Haven't hang out for quite some time, so, impulsively, I invited my housemates to go for a movie in Mid Valley. We decided to try out the 3D movie - Journey to the centre of the earth, hoping to get some visual satisfaction and it costed us rm17 each. Not so cheap............

Not so cheap ticket, rm9.6 for ticket, rm2.4 for entertainment tax and the rm5 surcharge?
What is the surcharge?rental for the freaky glasses? Air-corn? cushioned seat? toilet?

Each of us was given a freaky pair of 'red and green' glasses at the entrance and the narcissistic photo-shooting began instantly.

The freaky glasses

Wasn't expecting much initially. But then, the movie impressed me as soon as it began (in term of the visual effect). We really did get the visual satisfaction and two thumbs up for it. Unfortunately, in term of the storyline, it was just s0-so: a scientist, his nephew and his guide accidentally fell into the centre of the earth and finally they found the way out and brought themselves back to the surface of the earth, THE END. Super simple.

Rating : 8/10 , oklah, thanks to the 3D effect.

Instant doctor

There are a lot of human beings in my hospital who like to hang their stethoscope around their neck, office hour...lunch break...after office hour, the stethoscopes are always in the right position. They do carry bags, some of them do wear white coats with big pockets....but why do they want to position their tools around their neck?

The answer is easy. What comes into your mind when a human being hang a stethoscope around his/her neck?

DOCTOR!

Yes, the formula is easy: HUman being + stethoscope (+/- white coat) = Doctor

They want to tell others that, " HEy! ! All of YOU! Look at me! I'm a doctor! I'm Syok! "

So, why do you need to waste your 5 precious years in a medical school?

Try out this "Instant Doctor" !!!

Human + stethoscope (+/- white coat) = Doctor

YOU CAN BE A DOCTOR IN JUST 3 MINUTES!
